    Shannon Blueway

The first of its kind in Ireland, the Shannon Blueway is an innovative and easy to use series of on-water and land based trails. It provides for guided and unguided paddling, walking and cycling. The Shannon Blueway showcases a wonderful network of paddling trails all the way from the foot of Lough Allen, stretching in from Boyle, meandering onwards to Carrick-on-Shannon and beyond that along the Shannon as far as Ballyleague / Lanesborough. There is also paddling on the lovely Camlin River looped trail, starting from picturesque Richmond Harbour. Along the many beautiful Blueway trails, a series of off road walking and cycling trails are available, which includes the newly developed floating boardwalk around Acres Lake (seen above).
