​The Ballinamuck Visitor Centre, formerly an Royal Irish Constabulary Barracks, is located in the historic village of Ballinamuck, along the route of The Rebel Trail in North Longford. 

The fateful events of the 'Battle of Ballinamuck', 8th September 1798, are vividly presented with eye witness accounts from local people and officers of the opposing armies. 

The exhibition details the background to those events, and the national and international significance of the collision of forces, which sealed the fate of the Irish rebellion of 1798.
