Overnight break to the Shannon Blueway...

There's so much to do and see on a Blueway break. This two day/one night stay will give you a perfect chance to experience a great range of activities and attractions. Here's some inspiration for you...

Explore the Blueway trails...

Pick from the beautiful Blueway trails in this North Shannon area. All of the trails, on water and waterside, are fun and family friendly. With an overnight stop, you've got time to try more than one. So whether you choose to paddle, cycle or walk, pick from the fantastic range of ways to experience the Blueways, perhaps by booking a fun Stand-Up Paddleboard safari along the Leitrim Village to Ballinamore paddling trail, or, if you are two, why not hire a tandem to explore the Drumleague Lock Looped Cycle Trail, or even just a gentle meander along the Kilarcan to Kilclare walking trail.

Pick one of the local activity providers who will give you all the help, guidance and equipment you need to explore more along the Blueway trails. We've even created some great experiences so you can book an activity with ease.

Make the most of your trip...

The beauty of the Blueways is that there is so much to discover in the area. Take a plunge into the Drumshanbo outdoor swimming pool and then learn all about lovely Leitrim in the Sliabh an Iarainn Visitor Centre.

These are just a few suggestions, check out our Hidden Treasures for more ideas.

Rest your weary head...

Wherever you want to lay your hat (or your paddles...), we've got lots of options. From luxury hotel accommodation, perhaps at the Marina Hotel or the Lough Allen Hotel and Spa; to bohemian glamping on the riverbank at Battlebridge Caravan & Camping park; or pure relaxation in the quirky and quaint Lough Key House, you'll find a perfect place to unwind after all that activity. Renowned for its warm welcome, the area also boasts an extraordinary selection of restaurants, cafes and delis, with something to please all palates. There are even foodie experiences to be savoured:

- Experience the storage of, 'cave aged', 'dry rind', 'oiled skin' and waxing at The Cheese Hub factory.

- Browsing the stalls at the Carrick-on-Shannon Farmers market is a treat for the eyes and the taste buds. Most of the produce is local and you meet stallholders who are passionate about fresh, healthy food.

- For the grown ups why not a trip to The Shed Distillery of P.J Rigney where you will see Gunpowder Gin being produced.
